The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund The Baily Thomas Charitiable Fund provides funding for voluntary organisations working with children or adults with severe learning difficulties (including Autism). Applications are considered for capital and revenue costs for specific projects and general running/core funding. The charity normally only funds one-off grants (from £250 upwards) but new projects may be funded for two or three years. Work that falls within the Fund's policy includes: - Capital building for residential, nursing, respite care and schools
- Day and social activities
- Support for families and community schemes
- Independent living schemes
- Swimming and hydro-therapy pools

Grants for Physical Conditions and Disabilities
ASPIRE - Human Needs Fund Aspire supports people with spinal Cord injuries in the UK. Through it's Human Needs Fund it is able to offer funding for specialist equipment not available from statutory services such as lightweight wheelchairs, powered chairs, elctronic page turners and assistive technology equipment. British Kidney Patient Association (BKPA) The BKPA is able to provide financial aid to children and adults with kidney disease who are struggling on low income. It is able to help with domestic bills, domestic appliances, travel costs to hospital, holidays, further education and training. Applications should be made by a social worker or a member of the kidney care team. Download further details and an application form from the website. www.britishkidney-pa.co.uk
Cystic Fibrosis Trust The Cystic Fibrosis Trust provides finanacial support to children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis. - Welfare Grants - to help during times of stress or crisis with items that are not funded by any other agency. This might include household items, funding a break or additional costs during hospitalisation.
- Grants for modern nebulisers - If you are still using the old fashioned type nebuliser the Trust may be able to replace it with a modern type.
Applications for these two grants should be made on the Welfare Grants application form. Support will be required from a suitable professional. There is also a separate form for help with Funeral Expenses. The Trust also offers support through: The Joseph Levy Memorial Trust - to help young adults over 18 years develop their careers in further and higher education. It may help towards tuition fees, living expenses, examination fees or other costs that help the young person with their career. Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund - provides financial assistance for children and young people up to 25 years for a break. This may be a family holiday or a dream day out. The Meningitis Trust The Meningitis Trust provides grants to individuals who have had meningitis and their families. It can help pay for items such as specialist equipment, therapy, travel, accomodation costs, and training. To apply for a grant either telephone the Trust's 24 hour freephone helpline 0800 028 18 28 or complete their on-line enquiry form. Applications must be made by a supporting professional on your behalf. www.meningitis-trust.org
Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) The MND Association provides financial support to anyone living with or affected by Motor Neurone Disease. It is able to fund up to a maximum of £2,000 equipment, care and quality of life interventions which are either not available or delayed from statutory services. Applications must be made by a health professional, appropriate professional or MND representative. To apply: Download an application form. If the application is successful funding will be allocated quickly within 10 working days. Priority requests can be funded within 5 days. www.mndassociation.org
Multiple Sclerosis Society The Multiple Sclerosis Society provides help and guidance on obtaining grants and finanacial aid from charitable and statutory funds. The MS Society also runs it's own grants schemes: - Short Breaks and Activity Fund - providing grants for people with MS and their carers to help them access a broad range of short breaks and respite care including the payment of a professional carer. Speakeasier Speakeasier provides speech aids for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) suffering from severe speech impairment due to their condition. Communication aids such as Lightwriters and Possums can be provided to MS patients prescribed a speech aid by their Speech and Language Therapist. There is no means test. Applications should be made by the individual's Speech and Language Therapist after an assessment of their needs. Grants for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Victa Victa provides funding for visually impaired children and young people for specialist equipment including CCTV, laptops, braillers, sensory toys and holiday schemes such as those run by Action for the Blind. To apply download an application pack from the website. A statement from a supporter such as a qualified professional is required on the application form. Victa also provides funding to other charities and organisations such as specialist schools and colleges. www.victa.org.uk
The Vision Charity The Vision charitiy supports groups, charities and associations within the blind & visually impaired community. It fundraises money to purchase equipment, goods or specialist services such as computer access equipment, toys and games and even minibuses. It also supports projects which benefit the community and has recently given £10,000 to the Blind in Business charity to benefit 600 blind and visually impaired students in the UK. The charity is currently creating a sport legacy fund to enable blind and visually impaired children an increased opportunity to participate in sport.
