Ryde - Isle of Wight

Ask at the swimming pool. They are very helpful.

You may have to book the beach wheelchair but we've never had a problem.

There is another beach wheelchair or two on the Island. But I can’t remember where they a kept, Ryde swimming pool will tell you.

Happy holidays!

ANSWER:

Thank you for letting us know about the beach wheelchair in Ryde.

I had a look at the swimming pool website but was unable to find out anymore details.

However, I did find out that the swimming pool offers sensory swims to help children with sensory or learning disabilities.

Look at their website:www.sensoryswim.org
Contact: info@sensoryswim.org

The local council also offer the use of beach wheelchairs for children who live on the Island through their short breaks programme. They have 3 wheelchairs available at Ryde and Sandown.

They are available for use to aid inclusion on schools trips and group outings. They can also be hired on an individual basis, for a morning or an afternoon free of charge, with refundable deposit (£25).

There are 4 Changing Places toilets on the Isle of Wight 3 at Newport and one at Tesco's just outside of Ryde.
