A project of Beach Wheelchairs. This is a container which has two beach wheelchairs available for free hire.

We have a large hippocampe beach wheelchair and a Nomad.

The hippocampe beach wheelchair is suitable for children and small adults. It is low to the ground, so perfect for getting close to the sand and sea. It has an arm rest, leg rest, lap strap, chest harness and head rest.

The Nomad beach wheelchair has footrests that move to the side to assist with transfers. This is based on a basic manual wheelchair frame.

We have a manual hoist at this location which is available for use. This takes a loop style sling. which must be supplied by our customers.

We are located in a decorated container in the Tumbles carpark beside the prom in Portobello.

Our wheelchairs are available for hire everyday by prebooking on 0300 666 0990.
We are completely run by volunteers. All equipment is free to hire
